Can Your Home Withstand the High Winds of a Storm?

6/25/2021 (Permalink)

Storms and severe weather can come on quickly and suddenly, and we want to make sure your home is prepared in case damage is done to your property or personal belongings. Severe winds blowing at 55 mph can tear down tree branches and winds up to 110-130 mph can blow over trees and damage roof shingles.

Here are some things you can do when an upcoming storm is on its way to prepare for future damages and help with the restoration process:

  • Unplug any electronics, even if they have a surge protector.
  • Gather supplies such as flashlights, blankets, a fully charger phone, and a list of phone numbers to call if you lose power, have damaged caused to your home, and any insurance companies that can help you file a claim.
  • Check windows and doors to ensure they are sealed to prevent any water from leaking.
  • Clear any clutter near doorways for a safe and quick exit if necessary.
  • Have an action plan in place in case of an evacuation.
